Who We Are

St. Mark’s Episcopal Church Campus

St. Mark’s is an Episcopal Church and part of the 85-million member worldwide Anglican Communion. Our congregation has been proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ at Lappans Crossroads for over 160 years. St. Mark’s was founded in 1849 by the students and faculty of nearby Saint James School, and continues today as a Church that is interested in teaching, evangelism and youth. The McKinley Center, built in 1899, was built as a home for the Rector. The Parish House, added to the campus in 1955, provides space for fellowship, learning and community outreach, and currently houses the Rector’s office and the church office. The Fellowship Center, built in 2011, provides a fully accessible, multipurpose space for worship and education and is available to groups for conferences, meetings and retreats.

St. Mark’s Core Values and Mission

At Saint Mark’s Episcopal Church, Lappans–
We welcome seekers and encourage the exploration of the Bible
and understanding of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
We offer a variety of historical and contemporary Episcopal practices.
We nurture each member throughout the journey in life and faith.
We embrace and celebrate the special gifts and needs of children as citizens of the Kingdom of God.
We challenge each member to practice faith in daily life, to build community,
share gifts and talents and reach out in love and concern for others.

A Prayer for Mission

Almighty God, you inspired the founders of St. Mark’s to reach out in mission and ministry to this community; so direct us that we may discern your will for our own day, and in faithfulness and joy, provide the resources—human, financial and physical—to share the Gospel in word and deed with those who hunger and thirst for your love, shown through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
Amen.

“..and they continued in the Apostle’s teaching and fellowship, in the breaking of the bread and in the prayers… And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.” Acts 2: 42, 47b
